In 1995, my wife and I were on a trip to Washington State to find a suitable residential property somewhere West of the Cascade Mountains. After looking at properties between the Canadian and Oregon borders, we settled on McCormick Woods in Port Orchard, a golf course community.
We ended up purchasing a vacant residential lot and blue prints for our future home in the Muirkirk development from Tim Uhler at Pioneer Builders. Mr. Uhler was most congenial during our negotiations and actually listened to what we wanted in the home, which included some moderate architectural modifications to the plans. We concluded our initial business dealings and returned to our home in California.
Over the next year we conducted our home building adventure by telephone, Fax and U.S. Mail. We made only one weekend trip to Port Orchard to meet with Mr. Uhler and select sub-contractors to finalize interior decoration issues.
Throughout the construction and escrow process, Mr. Uhler proved to be a man of his word. He impressed us as being ethical, knowledgeable and sincere.
The onsite workmen we met were professional and respectful. Our final inspection and walk-through were a breeze, and only a few minor cosmetic issues required follow-up attention.
We have now been in our home for six years and are happy with our house.
